On August 28, the State Administration for Market Regulation released the 2025 Food Supplementary Inspection Methods and publicly solicited research and development units from across society.The initiative focuses on three major technical challenges in testing food adulteration substances:Identification and quantitative detection of adulterated animal-derived materials in meat and meat products, such as methods to identify and quantify duck meat adulteration in lamb products.Identification and quantitative detection of other oils adulterated in edible vegetable oils, such as methods to quantify soybean oil adulteration in peanut oil.

Paraguay Issues New Regulations on Classification and Labeling of Bottled Water
On September 26, 2025, Paraguay's National Health Surveillance Authority, pursuant to Article 72 of the Constitution (authority for health quality control) and Law No. 6788/2021 as amended by 7361/2024, comprehensively regulated the domestic bottled water market. The new regulations aim to address public demand for low-sodium healthy drinking water, prevent chronic diseases such as hypertension, and strengthen the supervision of water source authenticity and labeling standards to eliminate misleading claims.

On September 29, 2025, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced it will implement the "Rule on the Accreditation of Third-Party Certification Bodies for Conducting Food Safety Audits and Issuing Certificates," with the comment period ending on October 29, 2025. Currently, approximately 200,000 foreign food exporters ship food products to the United States, including about 130,000 food production enterprises or facilities and approximately 71,000 farms.
